Bold faith – Convicting faith! Saving faith!

From the Executive Director of DeGraw Ministries – Minister Carolyn Navis

I just cannot get this thing with John Baylo out of my head. Usually when I hear news like this I can pray and pretty much dismiss it. But this, this keeps coming to my mind over and over again day and night. When it does, I pray.

(John Baylo is a Christian radio host on 91.3 WCSG in West Michigan (where we live).  He was recently arrested for criminal sexual assault against a minor boy under 12 years.)

As I have been pondering this situation a bit, what has come to my mind is, “How did it get this far with him? Why didn’t he get help earlier? I mean, things had to be going on and the Holy Spirit must have convicted him. If only things had been brought to light earlier, then so many would not have gotten hurt and there would not be so many victims including friends and family.”

But then, I turn my thoughts to myself. “Carolyn, what have you not told someone else that needs to come to the light, what thoughts-possibly actions have you been thinking/doing that the Holy Spirit is convicting you of, but you are not sharing it with others because you would be embarrassed to share, or you kind of like and don’t want to give up?” As I sit down with the Holy Spirit and ask for His revelation, I also ask for his courage to speak what needs to be brought to the light.

Friends, if we do not, we give our flesh and the enemy room to let these things fester and grow and then we will not only be hurting ourselves, but one, maybe two or many more as well.

I am so thankful that God can and does stop us at times when we have gone too far for too long. He led me to read Psalm 10 this morning, verses 17 and 18 say, “You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.”

I praise the Lord that John’s sin was exposed before more children were victimized and I pray that He will show me my sin before myself and others are hurt. May God bring good out of this horrible evil so that the enemy does not have total victory
