There is light, a glimmer of hope in the darkness

As I sit in the dark and ponder what I should write I am reminded of the darkness that Jesus set us free from.  As we entered this Christian life we had no idea the darkness that existed in our own lives.  We had no idea the bondage we were in or the freedom we needed to obtain.  As the word says, in Genesis 1:2, “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”  Darkness was present, but as darkness was present the Spirit of God was also present.  That is how our lives have been.  Even though we were in darkness the presence of God was still nearby.  The Spirit of God was still in us.

As we go through life as Christians we find ourselves again caught in periods of darkness, periods where the enemy has worn us down, battered and bruised us.  We find ourselves sometimes sitting in the dark.  I did not purposely choose to sit in the dark, I just happened to come into my secret place and there was enough light radiating from an adjoining room to give me the light I needed to write.  However, isn’t that how our life can be?  We can find ourselves sitting in the dark with a glimpse of light shining nearby.  What is the light that is shining nearby you, a friend, a loved one or the Lord Jesus?  Who is preventing you from slipping into the dark?  Who is the light of life in your present situation?

As Christians we would love to say we walk a walk that is always going up, always going deeper, but the truth is once and a while, every so often we slip into that dark place. Attacks mount, the enemy hits us hard and just like me the only ray of light left is a side entrance into a room or a glow from my laptop. But with Jesus, we always have that glow, that ray of light, that side beam entrance.  We always have hope, we always have a way out of the deep, if we can just find the light.

Where do you need to find the light in your life? Remember, Jesus is the light of the world, there is always a glimmer of hope and nothing is too dark that can’t be penetrated with the light of Christ.
